How to get the Dial Position
It takes 5 1/2 complete rotations of the knob to go from the minimum resistance to the maximum resistance setting. The knob stops turning at the minimum and maximum positions.
Rotate the knob in 1/4 turn increments counter-clockwise until the knob stops rotating. Don't attempt to rotate past the stopping point!
Keep track of the number of 1/4 turns.
Multiply this number by 4. This is the Dial Position. For example, 5 quarter-turns is a Dial Position of 1 1/4.
Why is there a Calorie Calculator?
No pedal exerciser under $500 measures power. This is required for accurate Calorie measurement. Instead they use a simple formula that calculates Calories independent of the resistance setting.
Because of this, the Calories-burned estimates can be off by a factor of 10. The Calorie numbers on the display are only close if the resistance is set to maximum. This is true for all pedal exercisers under $500, and many that are more expensive.
We calibrate our bikes at the factory. The resistance is known for each position of the adjustment knob.
You can use the Calorie calculator to get accurate Calories-burned. It also takes into account the physical characteristics of the person using the bike. You won't find this feature on the $500 bikes.

"I am immensely pleased with both the build quality and the resistance. This will provide good solid exercise when couch-bound. Great for those of us who don't like to go out in the cold and/or have small apartments."
